This institution was established to respond to the said challenges facing the health sector in Tanzania of which among other challenges the sector is facing the acute shortage of health workforce both in quantity and quality estimated that only 48% of the required health workforce is manning the existing health facilities. It is estimated that by June 2019, the Government had more than 5000 dispensaries, 600 health centers, and 100 district hospitals.
Bridging this gap, the LIHAS Committed herself to produce adequately trained health workers in the targeted disciplines (pharmaceutical sciences, nursing and midwifery, clinical medicine, and Medical Laboratory in next consecutive year), who will work in various health facilities as competent semi-professionals or participate in the provision of health services through self-employment.
